January is one of the busiest months of the year for waste and recycling services. The holidays bring joy—but also a noticeable increase in trash.
From shipping boxes to food waste and packaging, the volume adds up quickly.
What Happens After Pickup?
Once bins are collected, materials follow different paths:
- Recyclables are transported to sorting facilities where they’re separated by type.
- Cardboard is compacted and sent to manufacturers to become new packaging.
- Trash that can’t be recycled is disposed of responsibly and safely.
When recyclables are contaminated—such as food-soiled items or non-recyclables mixed in—they often can’t be processed and must be treated as trash instead.
How You Can Help
Breaking down boxes, rinsing containers, and following local recycling guidelines helps ensure materials go where they belong. Proper sorting doesn’t just help the environment—it keeps the entire system running efficiently.
At C&C Disposal, we appreciate every customer who takes the extra moment to do it right.
